Nick Horgan – Appreciation

Nick Horgan

Nick is a poet first and foremost. He also co-runs Pinner Writers with Barbara Towell, which is where our association began. In the earlier years of TSL, we didn’t publish poetry – we still don’t as a general rule, but if you look at our catalogue there is quite a bit of poetry. Each fits one of our conditions: charity fundraiser or existing TSL author. The reason for this is that there are so many poets out there but more so because poetry is not a genre I know or understand.
Pure poetry books can be hard to sell outside of a poet’s network but add a few short stories and it becomes easier – when reading short stories is the thing to do. Nick was one of our first poetry authors with Breathing Underwater, which combines poetry and some clever short stories. This was followed a few years later with Memories of Time Travel, another collection of poetry and prose.
Both Nick’s poetry and short stories reflect on everyday topics and issues.
