Henry Dawe – Appreciation

Henry Dawe

Following a talk to Player Playwrghts in Kilburn, London, Henry contacted TSL as he wanted to get some of his drama sketches published. One to celebrate the comedy era of British broadcasting and the other a collection of what he calls pottiness: Play on Words and 30 Pieces of Pottiness respectively.
Having a knowledge of British comedians, comedy shows and such like is a real advantage when it comes to appreciating Henry’s writing and humour. But it’s not essential. Even with my limited knowledge of yester years’ British shows (during Apartheid British actors refused to have their shows broadcast in South Africa), I was able to get most of the humour.
Henry is quite involved in local issues and supporting other writers as he can – he’s the reason Alexander Crombie joined TSL. In helping to support another playwright, he introduced TSL to https://londonplaywrightsblog.com/
